Lila

Lila started off the day uncomfortable with a tube running through her nose and into her stomach. The surgery messed with her stomach and intestines. They had to suck out any fluid that would get into her stomach since the shock of surgery keeps her bowels from working properly. The doc felt like she was doing well by mid morning so they took out the tube. Lila was not happy when they pulled it out but calmed after just a couple minutes and has been much more relaxed all day.

The little munchkin has spent most of the day sleeping. She would give us maybe 5 minutes here and there to talk with her, but when she was done she would put her had on our face and push us away--as if to say get out of here, you're bugging me.

We've been encouraging her to eat little pieces of ice and a popsicle, but her only request was cookie dough. Unfortunately the Doctor won't let her have food for another day or two.

Lila finally came to life around 4:00 and actually allowed us to tease her and play with her a little. We made faces at each other and blew some bubbles. We got our first smiles since
surgery. Her smiles are contagious!

Lila also wanted to go for a walk, so we put her in a wagon and pulled her around the hospital. she didn't move much but her eyes were open. She started to cry when we ended the trip so, of course, we made the rounds one more time. she fell asleep in her wagon when we got back. We got about 1 1/2 hours of awake time, which was very encouraging.

Today we had some great visitors of family and friends and even though Lila wasn't much for visiting you could tell she enjoyed seeing someone other than her boring parents. Lila is getting her sleep and recuperating nicely, we hope tomorrow she'll be in the mood to sit up and play a bit.

  1. It made me cry to see that little darling all hooked up to all those tubes. She is such a little trooper. I am glad that she can sleep and heal. I pray for her and all of you. Have they let Afton see her yet? Thanks for the pictures and updates, I really appreciate it since I can't be there with you. Love ya, Judy
